An evening with Professor Alice Roberts
Shrewsbury High School, Town Walls, Shrewsbury, SY1 1TW

About this event
We are extremely excited to welcome Professor Alice Roberts to Shrewsbury High School for this one off event where she will be speaking about her inspirational career. Alice has presented more than a hundred television documentaries, on subjects relating to human biology, history, and archaeology. Recent work includes Ancient Egypt by Train and Fortress Britain (Channel 4). In 2023, the tenth series of Digging for Britain returned to BBC Two. Alice also presented Curse of the Ancients and Royal Autopsy for Sky History.
Having originally studied and practiced medicine, Alice went on to become a university lecturer, teaching clinical anatomy, and undertaking research in biological anthropology at the University of Birmingham. She is especially interested in the intersection between biology, archaeology and history, the impact of ancient genomics in archaeology, and the interaction between humans and the environment through time.
A prolific writer and best-selling author, Alice has written eight science and archaeology books and in 2023 Alice’s first book for children, Wolf Road, went straight to number two in Amazon’s fiction chart.
The evening starts at 7pm with Professor Roberts speaking for one and a half hours before a Q&A. Following the talk, refreshments will be served and there will be a chance to have books signed.
This event is open to the public and looks set to be a full house.
