Shrewsbury Regatta

Pengwern Boat Club, May 11-12

The Regatta is one of the oldest events in the rowing calendar, having first been held in 1871. Races will take place on the River Severn between English Bridge and Pengwern Boat Club, which is expecting around 1,500 competitors to take part. Entry to the regatta for spectators is free and you can watch the racing from both sides of the river, there will be a bar and barbecue as well as other refreshments for all the family.


Shropshire Kids Festival

The Quarry, May 11-12

KidsFest is one of the biggest, most creative, fun-filled weekends in Shrewsbury's calendar, with events catering to the needs of children aged 0-14. With a massive 75m water slide, zorbing, go-kart track, inflatable obstacle race and circus skills tent, amongst many other events, workshops and tents, your family will be anything but bored.

Greenhous West Mid Showground, May 18

A family day of cooking, learning, eating and drinking - and all with a 'free-from' theme!
Find out about all things free-from including vegan and low-carb diets, allergy-free food and products, reducing plastic and so much more! Vegans and vegetarians in the know will be on hand to answer any and all questions. Local producers Fordhall Farm will be running the lunch stop, with a menu including a variety of free-from options.

Founded in 1865, The Shropshire County Agricultural Show has seen massive changes in farming techniques and technology. Where town meets country, the show is a celebration of the local community, with attractions and entertainment for all ages. New to try at this year's show include drumming workshops, flight simulators, laser tag, canoeing and kayaking – to name just a few!

A family fun day out with drumming workshops, face-painting, live music, pop-up shops food stalls, craft workshops, a light show and plenty more! The Hive Patron, and The Walking Dead comic book illustrator, Charlie Adlard will be popping along to run a zombie drawing class – complete with a real life zombie.


Shrewsbury Wacky Races

The Quarry Park, May 26

Cheer on the wacky and wonderful soapbox racers at Shrewsbury Wacky Races 2019, the first of its kind to be held in town. Watch as the racers hurtle down the custom track in their carefully crafted carts at The Quarry, tackling the 300m track and its chicanes and, hopefully, avoiding the icy waters of the River Severn at the end. It's a knockout style competition, with only the fastest 10 racers making it through to the final. The event is free to attend, with pop up street food, bars and loads of fun activities for all the family.
