Eat at Eight

Eggs Royale at Eat at Eight

Eat at Eight

Eat at Eight’s mantra is “nutritious and healthy doesn’t need to be boring!” Food is locally-sourced within or not far from the town, including free range eggs from a small farm, bread from an artisan bakery and veg from a local organic veg shop.

Everything is made on the premises, including Eight’s own roasted beans and ketchup. Enjoy a full English, a full vegan or options such as Shavocadoo – avocado pummelled with coriander served with radish wafers on toast, or Eggs Royale – beetroot cured salmon, spinach and poached egg on toasted muffin with radish wafers and hollandaise.

Add to that a wide range of smoothies, healthy shakes and ‘wellness lattes’. Coffee beans come from Iron & Fire artisan roastery in Shropshire. Eight serves breakfast all day on Sunday, including a push-the-boat-out bottomless brunch.

Ginger and Co Shrewsbury

Ginger & Co

Breakfast at Ginger & Co is about unpretentiously simple but distinctive-tasting food that has been conjured with flair from quality local produce.

Nothing is too much trouble in this cosy, friendly, artisan-style coffee shop. You can have your coffee made any which way – as a pour over, a filter brew, a French press or as an Espresso-based speciality coffee. There’s a varied choice of dairy and non-dairy milks too.

Brunch is served until 3.30pm. Choose from the likes of smashed avocado or heritage tomatoes, homemade pesto and a drizzle of balsamic on toasted sourdough to fresh American-style pancakes, homemade granola or traditional Aussie-style toasted banana bread. Any of the fresh vegan choices can be topped with Wenlock Edge Farm’s streaky bacon, Shropshire Salumi’s bresaola or smoked salmon from Barkworths Seafoods.

Peaberry Shrewsbury

Peaberry Artisan Food & Drink

Peaberry offers an all day brunch and a wide ranging relaxed menu that aims to serve authentic ingredients and something a little bit different.

Choose from a Peaberry or Veggie English or The Works – eggs, grilled bacon, sausage, sautéed mushrooms, wilted spinach, a pot of tomato butter beans and toasted bread – to smashed avocado, Kedegree, Bubble and Squeak or various eggs benedict, royale, florentine and Shakshuka.

Ingredients are sourced locally as much as possible. Free range eggs from a farm up the road, meat and sausages from the Market Hall, for example. When proprietors Jess and Richard discovered Marabans artisan coffee and teas on a small Mediterranean island, they were so impressed that they brought them to Peaberry. The café is now a UK ‘showroom’ for Marabans.

Open 8.30am Mon to Sat (brunch served from 9.30am), 10am Sunday
