A range of quirky products produced by a Shrewsbury woman are proving to be best sellers, with county people and visitors alike.

Linda Edwards, an illustrator based in Quarry Place, launched ‘Sunny Side Art’ to celebrate the town she loves and is expanding the selection of products every year.

Shrewsbury-based charity chosen for BBC Radio 4 Appeal

Shrewsbury-based hearing loss charity Signal has been chosen to make a national appeal on BBC Radio 4, which will be aired on Sunday 25th September at 7.54am just before the 8 o’clock news.

Broadcaster Sybil Ruscoe will present the appeal, which will feature Signal’s work supporting deaf and hearing impaired children in Malawi.

Council invites proposals for keeping swimming pool in Shrewsbury town centre

Interested organisations will find out next week how to prepare and submit their proposals for keeping a swimming pool in Shrewsbury town centre.

In July 2016 Shropshire Council’s Cabinet agreed that Shrewsbury Sports Village is the preferred location for future swimming provision in Shrewsbury, rather than the current location at the Quarry Park in the town centre.

As UCS’s newest undergraduates settle into their studies, the institution will throw its doors open to the next intake of prospective students.

Town council reinforces Quarry Pool commitment

Shrewsbury Town Councillors have reinforced their commitment to retaining the Quarry swimming pool within the town centre.

Members have reiterated their concerns regarding the baths moving out of town as part of an overall response to Shropshire Council’s Sports Facilities Strategy, which is currently out for public consultation.

Shrewsbury scoops gold in floral competition

Shrewsbury has once again proved its floral features are blooming brilliant after being awarded Gold in the Heart of England in Bloom competition.

The results were announced at a ceremony in Aldridge earlier today.

Shrewsbury achieved Gold in the Small City and Large Park categories, as well as a Horticultural Excellence Award for The Dingle.

Macmillan Coffee Morning at University Centre Shrewsbury

University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) students and staff are inviting people to join them for a brew and a slice of cake as part of The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Student Holly-Elizabeth Smith is hosting the Coffee Morning on Friday 30th September, to contribute to the nationwide fundraising activities.

Hunt on for Shrewsbury Christmas carol writer

Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID) has launched a Christmas carol competition ahead of filming its annual Christmas video. 

From Dingle bells to Shrewdolph the Red nose reindeer, the search is on for writers to create Shrewsbury themed seasonal lyrics for the Christmas classic, Silent Night.
