Business moving in write direction with new website

A new website has been launched for a Shropshire retailer - one of the largest specialist pen shops in the country.

Write Here in Shrewsbury’s High Street has joined forces with another Shrewsbury business, digital marketing agency Verve, to develop the new site.

The expanded e-commerce site features a wider range of merchandise from the business, which also sells artist’s materials, cards and gifts, as well as promoting Shrewsbury as a tourist destination.

“Despite the fact that we are living in a digital age, there is a growing demand for writing instruments and we wanted our website to reflect our huge range of specialist products – we probably have the widest selection of pens of any retailer outside, or even inside, London,” said John Hall, who founded the shop 12 years ago.

“We have expanded our business to such an extent that we are now selling pens from over 10 different manufacturers, some worth several thousands of pounds.

“These go to customers all over the country and indeed throughout the world, and we wanted our online presence to make viewing and purchasing easier and more pleasurable.

“However, we are also extremely proud of our Shrewsbury home and so the website puts a good deal of emphasis on the town’s attractions and heritage and it even features music by local singer-songwriter Beth Prior.”

Mark Hambley, technical director of Verve, based on Oxon Business Park, Shrewsbury, said that it had been a pleasure to work with John on the project.

“The new website is bolder, livelier and easier to navigate – we are delighted with the finished product and believe it is already paying dividends in terms of increased web traffic,” he said.
