Musician Joe Seager

Joe, originally from Essex, moved to Shropshire with his parents in 1990, “they fell in love with Shropshire and believed it was a beautiful county to raise a family. I’m glad we moved, Shropshire is stunning and I love the outdoors!”

Currently combining his music career with part-time secondary school teaching, Joe is passionate about inspiring the next generation to follow their passions. “Music has always been a passion from an early age. I will never forget playing my Grandad’s ¾ size acoustic guitar in assembly at primary school. I played ‘Yesterday’ by the Beatles and from that moment on I never put the guitar down.”

Joe has played in bands, duos and finally went solo in 2006, finishing 6th with his song ‘Broken Tears’ in the Student Music Awards competition. Following this success, Joe gigged around Shropshire, becoming popular on the Shrewsbury circuit, and continued writing his own songs, releasing his debut album Parallel Lives in 2013, and now his studio album ATLAS, which he performed to a sell-out crowd at The Wightman Theatre in Shrewsbury.

A keen runner, Joe loves to run around Shropshire, as well as walking and cooking with his wife, “You can’t fail to appreciate the beauty of nature and the countryside here. Getting outdoors in the elements throughout the year is always a joy!”

“Shrewsbury is one of those towns that offers so much, it’s historical richness, the small businesses offering bespoke products, the multiple eateries and coffee shops, and of course the beauty of the river Severn. At Christmas, I love the cobbled streets that meander throughout the town with the Christmas lights, it’s so Christmassy!”

Joe will be spending Christmas with his wife and family, as well as doing a few gigs. As for future plans, “I’d really like to take my work to the next level, sharing it with more people and continuing to write songs. Who knows, maybe I could get a Christmas number one!”
