Shrewsbury Market Hall’s late evening festive celebrations on 10th & 14th December

Live music, a movie and a Narnia chocolate tea party will be part of the late night festive celebrations being staged by Shrewsbury Market Hall on Saturday 10th December.

The market’s stalls, cafes and restaurants will be open until 10pm and there will be performances by the indie rock band the Cartoon Bandits and disc jockey DJ Buzzword.

Award-winning chocolatier Julia Viani, of Toot Sweets, will be staging a Narnia-themed chocolate tea party including cakes, puddings and hot chocolate.

Urban Bikes will screen the cycling movie The Program, a dramatisation of one journalist’s hunt for evidence to expose Lance Armstrong’s use of performance-enhancing drugs.

This will be staged at 18/19 Shoplatch, beneath the Market Hall, along with a pop-up wine bar provided by vintner Iron & Rose. Places are limited. Free tickets are available from Urban Bikes on the main market floor.

The Cartoon Bandits will give two performances from 7pm to 8pm and 8.30pm to 9.30pm and DJ Buzzword will be in residence from 4.30pm.

Earlier in the day, the market will be part of a festival trail included in the Shrewsbury Christmas Festival programme and there will be a performance by the acoustic folk and pop trio The Beautiful Barley Boys.

The Market Hall will again be open late on Wednesday 14th December to coincide with the town’s Carols in the Square event. Stalls and restaurants will open until 9pm.

Complimentary mulled wine and mince pies will be served to shoppers from 6pm to 8pm and there will be music throughout the evening.
