Theatre Severn Reveals All...

Pulses of Shropshire theatre goers are expected to be set racing this week as Theatre Severn have just announced the exciting news that tickets for the ‘revealing’ hit stage show ‘The Full Monty’ are about to go on sale!

The hilarious new production will hit the venues stage in February of next year, and tickets will be on general sale from Tuesday 31st May.  Demand is expected to be high for tickets and audiences are being advised to book their tickets early to avoid missing out.

Based on the 1997 British film about six out-of-work Sheffield steelworkers, who with nothing to lose turn to the world of male stripping to make ends meet, the movie took the world by storm and has become one of the most successful British films ever made.

Simon Beaufoy, the Oscar- and BAFTA-winning writer of the film, has adapted his own screenplay for this hilarious stage production, which features the iconic songs from the film by Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones.  The show has had critical acclaim and has won the UK Theatre Award for Best Touring Production.

This is writer Simon Beaufroy’s first work for the theatre, but he has a history of great writing, with film credits including Salmon Fishing in Yemen, 127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire, and, of course, The Full Monty.

The shows will feature a star-studded cast, Gary Lucy (EastEnders, Dancing on Ice) will be exciting audience as Gaz, Joe Absolom (EastEnders, Doc Martin) will play Lomper and Andrew Dunn (Dinnerladies) will be Gerald.  Soap fans will recognise Brookside’s Louis Emerick, and Hollyoaks stars Chris Fountain and Kai Owen complete the troupe. Audiences can expect to see a lot more of the actors than in any of their previous roles, particularly in the show-stopping finale.

Theatre Spokesman Pip Bayley said ‘Were very excited to be going on sale with The Full Monty this week. It’s the latest in a series of large scale productions Theatre Series is bringing to county audiences. With ‘The Sound of Music’ this month (our largest production to date), ‘Rehearsal for Murder’ in June, ‘Dead Sheep’ and ‘Gangsta Granny’ still to come, and now ‘The Full Monty’, Theatre Severn really does continue to offer something for everyone’.

The Full Monty will be at Theatre Severn from Monday 6th February until Saturday 11th February, tickets go on general sale on Wednesday 31st May and are available by contacting the Box Office on 01743 281 281 or by visiting the Theatre Severn website.
