Tickets go on sale for Shrewsbury’s top beer bash

Tickets for Shrewsbury’s first ever Ale Trail will go on sale from Thursday 9th June.

The event sponsored by Hobsons Brewery will take place across the town centre between Friday 17th and Sunday 26th June, with pubs and bars coming together to promote the best of Shropshire beer. It has been organised alongside the Shrewsbury Food Festival, taking place at Quarry Park on 25th and 26th June, to encourage people to explore the range of tastes and flavours on offer across Shrewsbury’s diverse range of venues.

Tickets cost £7 for a half pint glass, which can be used for a taster of each pub’s designated ‘Ale Trail’ beer and an entry trail form, which can be stamped at each participating venue. Ticket holders can rate the beers, vote for the best one and also receive a free bottle of Hobsons beer when they visit at least ten pubs.

Beth Heath, Chief Executive of Shrewsbury Food Festival and Shrewsbury Ale Trail Founder, said: “The interest in real ale continues to grow so this will be a great way to shine the spotlight on our local brewers, including our sponsor, Shropshire’s leading craft brewer, Hobson’s brewery.”

Kate Pearce from Hobsons Brewery said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the first official Ale Trail. Shropshire has so many fine beers to be proud of and I know the venues involved are very keen to showcase their best cask conditioned beers to new enthusiasts as well as their regulars.

Kirsten Henly, Executive Director of Shrewsbury BID, said: “This event will certainly whet the appetite ahead of the Shrewsbury Food Festival and ensure events’ visitors come into town and experience what our food and drink retailers have to offer. Events bring a welcome influx of visitors to Shrewsbury and it’s great to see businesses working together to benefit from the activity. We wish it every success”.

There will be a maximum of 1000 tickets sold with 200 available online at the Food Festival website. The remaining tickets will be available at participating venues. Overall sales will be managed by The Armoury at Victoria Quay, one of the pubs taking part.
