Heritage Open Days - Flaxmill Maltings Tours

About

Visit the world's first iron framed building, the grant-parent of the modern skyscraper, currently undergoing a £30m regeneration.

The Flaxmill Maltings site contains three grade one listed buildings, including the World's first, third and eighth iron-framed structures. It was built in 1797 as a flax spinning mill, operating for 90 years and closing in 1887 to re-open in 1897 as a maltings. It again operated for 90 years in this role before closing in 1987.

The Visitor Centre will be open to the public to learn more about the structures and their uses over two centuries.

On Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th guided tours will be available at regular intervals throughout the weekend, and there will be interpretation and displays on the history, structure and uses of the buildings.

Max 20 people per tour/session.
