In 2018, Heritage Open Days will celebrate ‘Extraordinary Women’, widening the spotlight beyond those who are already recognised and championed.Shrewsbury Civic Society will display an exhibition of "Extraordinary Women of Shropshire"

An Exhibition ; Extraordinary Women of Shropshire... Free Entry ..The Meeting Room Bear Steps Hall

This will be displayed in a timeline format beginning with Lady of Mercia Althelfreda who founded St Alkmund Church, and will include many famous women who have links with our county to include Julia Wightman, Dame Agnes Hunt, Mary Webb, Ellis Peters.

Also featured in the exhibition will be a profile of the early twentieth-century stained-glass artist, Margaret Agnes Rope. with an in-depth feature to remember her achievements: Shrewsbury Civic Society together The Margaret Rope Organisation will unveil a blue plaque in her honour, to be erected on a wall of her former Shrewsbury home.
