Launch of Friends of The Mount - Darwin's Childhood Home

About

Mount House in Shrewsbury has a unique significance for British and World History as the birthplace and childhood home of Charles Darwin. He lived there until the age of 27 and it was the place where his young mind was shaped to think independently and creatively. This site of global heritage is currently used as an office building, despite its international significance both culturally and scientifically.

The time is urgently coming when the Government Valuation Office, that currently occupies the building, will be moving out. This iconic building which represents Shrewsbury’s claim to historic and scientific significance, deserves to become an international visitor destination and the heritage site.

This event welcomes all those who would like to show their support for the project.
