Russian State Opera Bizet’s Carmen

After wowing audiences with their stunning production of Madam Butterfly in March, The Russian State Opera return with CARMEN, Bizet's colourful story of high passion and tragedy.

A compelling mix of gorgeous melodies, dramatic confrontations and musical wit and set in 19th century Seville, Carmen tells the story of the downfall of Don José, a naïve soldier who is seduced by Carmen, a seductive, free-spirited femme fatale.

The powerful and tuneful score has long been acclaimed for the skill with which Bizet represented, musically, the emotions and suffering of his characters and The Toreador Song is among the best known of all operatic arias. Perfect for both seasoned opera goers and anyone attending their first. Experience the sound of a live orchestra, exquisite singing and wonderful tunes that you will be humming all the way home.

Sung in French with English Surtitles
