Shakespeare Day


Shrewsbury Heritage is celebrating Shakespeare on the 400th anniversary of his death with performances throughout the town. There will be dancing, singing and lots of acting of the Bard’s work, famous lines and great insults. There will also be a chance to be part of a special Shakespeare Selfie to be created on the day.

Full programme of events and activities on the day will be available to download or print off from the Shrewsbury Heritage website and on the Shrewsbury Shakespeare Day Facebook page.

In the Square
•    Music, Songs and Combat from Shakespeare’s time
•    Shakespeare Selfie – perform a favourite piece of text from Shakespeare, we will have plenty to choose from on the day, rehearsal and have it recorded.  This will then make a You Tube film titled ‘Shrewsbury Shakespeare Day Selfies’
•    Shakespeare Treasure Hunt – make a donation to Macmillan and find the letters of a ‘word’ from the clue sheet for a prize. 
•    Shakespeare Insults – by the passing public

In Shrewsbury Castle grounds
•    A selection of school performances  - a  programme of Shakespeare Scenes

Character’s will be around the town including the Shopping Centre’s.

The Wightman Theatre - A master class in Shakespeare bya RSC Educator (at 4pm)

St Mary’s Church - Celebrating historic figures with links to Shropshire England and St George
