Shrewsbury Festival of Literature

2019 sees the 4th Shrewsbury Festival of Literature take place over the weekend of 22nd to 24th November and will be bringing a fascinating selection of authors and poets to the town.  Once again events will be taking place in a variety of venues in the town centre although we will be straying over the English Bridge for a couple of them.

We have an SFL first with the Friday evening event focussed on young adult (YA) literature. Dean Atta, in what will be his second visit to Shrewsbury this year, will be talking about his new YA novel, Black Flamingo.

He will be supported by Jason N Smith, the winner of the 2018 SFL Poetry Slam.

As always there is a good mix of poetry, fiction, non-fiction and writing-related workshops and the subject matter ranges from the arms trade to cricket!

Events include a workshop on Mindful Writing and a session on Research and the Historical Novel, a Poetry Cafe and the 3rd SFL Poetry Slam.  There will be gothic thrills and life in Wales.  It's going to be quite wonderful.

As always we are totally reliant on our band of stoic volunteers and if you'd like to give us a hand this year then send us an email - see the Volunteers page of this website and drop us a line.
