Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival Gala

Following the huge success of the inaugural Gala Show, SHREWSBURY INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL is delighted to bring another incredible line up of comedians to Theatre Severn to bring the curtain down on the 2018 Festival.

The 2017 Gala sold out within hours and was the most talked about comedy event of the year and 2018 promises to be just as memorable. Come and see the cream of the comedy circuit on your doorstep.

Multi-award-winning comedian, presenter, actor, author and scriptwriter RUSSELL KANE is best known for BBC3's Stupid ManSmart Phone and the host of Live At The Electric. Other TV appearances include BBC1's Live At The Apollo, ITV2's Celebrity Juice and I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here Now. Winner of Best Show in 2010 at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, Russell went on to make history as the first comedian to win both the Edinburgh Award and Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Barry Award in one year. He has recently finished his sell-out UK Tour, Right Man, Wrong Age, and is breaking new ground by launching Facebook's first broadcast ready show The Kaneing Live.

The break out hit of 2017's Gala is back again to wow you with hip-hop improv genius. If you were there for last year's Gala, this is almost certainly the act you talked about most.

"Flight of the Conchords meets 8 Mile...nothing short of genius" Chortle

He may well be the host of the madcap gameshow, Don't Say It, Bring It on Dave, and a judge on Ireland's Got Talent, but he'll always be at the height of his powers when performing live on stage. A veteran (and twice Perrier nominated) of the Edinburgh, Perth, Melbourne and Montreal Comedy Festivals, we are delighted to welcome this comedic tour de force to Shrewsbury. Expect the Unexpected.

"The Outright King of Live Comedy" Times

After more than a decade in the business, Nish finally became an overnight sensation and now features regularly on TV & Radio...hosting satirical shows such as The Mash Report on BBC2 and Newsjack on Radio 4 Extra. His solo shows have consistently had sold out runs at the Edinburgh Festival, and he was nominated for the Comedy Award in 2015. He's also, to date, probably the worst contestant to have appeared on Taskmaster (Dave).

"A highly polished, subtly innovative stand up" Guardian
