Windrush Exhibition: Telford & Wrekin

About

Black History Month 2021 is celebrated here at The Hive
through this exhibition of selected photographs from the
Windrush Exhibition Telford & Wrekin. Curated to honour the memory and preserve the history of the Windrush Generation elders who arrived in the UK from the Caribbean between 1948 and 1971 and who settled in the eastern part of Shropshire, which later became Telford and Wrekin. Most of this generation are now sadly deceased. Their families have embraced and
contributed to this project to proudly pay tribute to their elders, whose memory lives on in the hearts and minds of their families and will do for generations to come.
Shropshire Ethnic Minority Alliance (SEMA) is an organisation supporting those of us from non-majority cultures to join together in sharing and promoting of cultures, struggles and victories in Shropshire. Within the exhibition space feel free to explore the SEMA pop-up library of Black literature and other books relating to themes of diaspora, migration, belonging, longing, loss and hope in new lands.
