World Tennis Tour W60 event

The Shrewsbury Club is hosting the prestigious World Tennis Tour W60 tournament, February 11th – 16th.

World class tennis will make a return to the Club as we will host the biggest women's tennis tournament in the UK in 2019, outside of the grass court season and the Fed Cup.

Leading British players and top international stars are expected to feature in a strong line up for the event. For the first time at the Club, the tournament will feature evening matches, which will allow some spectators the chance to come and watch the tennis after work.

The Club will also be building stadium seating and full pre-match entertainment from the quarter-final rounds onwards.

There will be free admission until the quarter finals, with tickets then available for the advanced stages of the tournament, a requirement of the International Tennis Federation.

The tournament will also be live streamed around the world via the ITF website. Julie Piper, the tournament director for the LTA, said it promised to be a high-quality tournament which is likely to attract some top players.

"I think we will have a strong field with the Fed Cup tie at the University of Bath leading into it,” she added. “We could potentially have some players currently in the top 100 in the world taking part.”

The event promises to be a great opportunity for local tennis fans and Shropshire businesses to be a part of this amazing tennis event. The Club are providing a heated marquee adjacent to the Club entrance where hospitality will be provided before spectators enjoy the match inside the club.
