Download the town trail to walk in the footsteps of Charles Darwin - Shrewsbury's most famous son. Many of the points in the trail are marked with special commemorative way-markers set into the pavement.

Tour of the Churches

Take a stroll around Shrewsbury's churches - they're packed with significant stories and awesome architecture. Tour through history at three of Shrewsbury's most important buildings - Shrewsbury Abbey, St. Mary the Virgin and St. Chad's. It takes you from medieval times to the Georgian period to find a Welsh saint, the first House of Commons, a tree of glass and the church where Charles Darwin was baptised.

Riverboats and roaming

See the sights from the comfort of Shrewsbury's riverboat Sabrina. The 40-minute rides on the riverboat run between 11am and 4pm from the Welsh Bridge from March until October. The River Severn forms an almost perfect loop around the town and another great way to get the lay of the land is to walk from the Welsh Bridge to the English Bridge, which sit at opposite ends of the town. Don't forget to explore the Quarry Park on your way.
