John Finn: The Work of the Deaf Blind Artist

Currently exhibiting in the Main Hall at the Bear Steps Art Gallery, for his third exhibition, is deaf blind artist John Finn.

The third exhibition is about haptic art.  He designed three different sizes of bird houses with various sensory textures of patterns as well as pottery bowls with deep cut shapes and patterns in order  to create sensory feel of textures. This exhibition explores sensory textures on wood and clay.

Sighted people buy things on appearance, whereas this exhibition create a more accessible experiences for deaf blind people and blind people to buy things based on the sensory experiences they offer.
