Who is Original Shrewsbury?

Original Shrewsbury is the public-facing platform run by Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID) on behalf of its member businesses. Shrewsbury BID is a democratically elected not-for-profit organisation governed by a voluntary board of Directors representative of the town's businesses. Can I be promoted on Original Shrewsbury?

To be promoted on Original Shrewsbury a business must be a BID or Original Shrewsbury member. Membership is open to all businesses within a 15-minute walk of Shrewsbury town square, with options starting at £100 + VAT per calendar year, you can read more here.


Can I advertise on Original Shrewsbury?

No, we do not currently offer any advertising on the Original Shrewsbury platforms.


Can I add my event to your what's on?

Our event listings are open to events within a 15-minute walk of Shrewsbury's town square. Events that are held by or at member businesses, or are free-entry not-for-profit events can be included at no charge. To submit your event please fill in this form.

For-profit events held within a 15-minute walk of The Square but not associated with a member business can be included for a fee of £100 + VAT per event per calendar year. You can read more about this in Shrewsbury BID's membership options.


Why do you promote national businesses?

At Original Shrewsbury, we believe that one of the greatest things about the town is its wealth of independent businesses, but it's also important to have a healthy mix of businesses for a thriving centre. Whether they're large nationals or small independents, we must treat all our members equally and every business is entitled to the same promotion and support on our platforms. Can I use Original Shrewsbury's images on my own website?

The majority of images on Original Shrewsbury are under copyright, please do not use images from the site without prior permission. Please email content@originalshrewsbury.co.uk for requests and more information.

Original Shrewsbury social media Code of Conduct

Original Shrewsbury is run by Shrewsbury BID, a not-for-profit organisation that promotes and supports its member businesses within Shrewsbury's town centre.

The Original Shrewsbury platforms are meant as a source of information for residents, locals and tourists. We are an apolitical, neutral platform, and treat all our members equally, whether they are a large national or small independent. You can find our full social media guidelines here.

By following and engaging with the Original Shrewsbury page, you agree to abide by our Code of Conduct, as detailed below.

  1. We have zero tolerance for racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or ableist comments
  2. No attacks against individuals or businesses
  3. No brigading (an organised attack from multiple people against a topic or business)
  4. No self-promoting comments on competitors' posts
  5. No posting spam or third-party links

Thank you in advance for being respectful and considerate in your comments. Those who do not follow our guidelines will be banned from the Original Shrewsbury page for a minimum of six months. This will mean you are unable to comment or react to our posts, and like and message the Original Shrewsbury page.
