“Since the pandemic I have concentrated on painting. This new work is called "Story"
Story brings together a collection of paintings that explore people and places, both real and imagined. Using acrylic on stretched canvas, I work from observation, memory, and imagination — capturing quiet, everyday moments that carry emotional weight.
Some of these scenes are grounded in the familiar: figures in landscapes, engaged in ordinary activities. Others are more nostalgic, shaped by remembered holidays, caravans, tents, and the comforting details of the past. These fragments of life come together to form open-ended narratives — not fixed stories, but invitations for the viewer to reflect, relate, and remember.
“I often work on several paintings at once, allowing each to unfold organically. Colour plays a key role in my process. Bright, saturated palettes help create an emotional connection and give each piece a sense of warmth, place, and presence.”
At its heart, Story is about noticing — the beauty in the ordinary, the memories hidden in landscapes, and the quiet stories people carry with them.
