About this event
The countdown is on to the Slow Food Ludlow Marches Christmas Fiesta on Saturday 7th December 2024 at the historic Dye House in Shrewsbury Flaxmill. This free, family-friendly event runs from 10am to 7pm and is the perfect opportunity to stock up on fantastic locally produced food and drink before Christmas.
The event welcomes broadcaster and author Kate Humble, who will be signing books and chatting with producers from midday. Visitors can also hear from Shane Holland, Executive Chair of Slow Food in the UK, who will be interviewed by Kate Humble, sharing insights into the importance of sustainable food systems and local provenance.
From delicious preserves to freshly baked goods, heritage cheeses and other seasonal treats, visitors will find everything they need to create a festive feast. There will be interactive workshops, chef demonstrations, and tastings to bring the principles of the Slow Food movement to life. Slow Food Person of the Year, Steve Guy (AKA The Hungry Guy) will be running a stall along with Shrewsbury Hub with incredible products made entirely from surplus food.
Visitors can also indulge in delicious seasonal food from local vendors while enjoying festive drinks from different local producers.
Slow Food is a global, grassroots movement founded in Italy, focused on preserving traditional foodways and supporting sustainable practices. Slow Food Ludlow promotes local food that’s good for consumers, producers, and the planet, encouraging communities to rediscover the importance of provenance and quality.
