Shrewsbury Visitor Information Centre offers year-round walking tours of Shrewsbury in the heart of the historic town.

Their team of 30 carefully selected and trained green badge and blue badge guides have a vast range of experience and knowledge of the town. Your guide will present an informative and entertaining commentary on the history of the town while injecting their own personality.

Leaving from the Museum and Art Gallery, general guided walking tours operate:

Easter to September

  • Monday to Saturday - starting at 2pm
  • Sundays - starting at 11.30am


  • Tuesday to Saturday
  • Sundays 11.30am

Nov, Feb & March

  • Saturdays only - starting at 2pm

Tours are £7.50 for an adult and £2.50 per child.

Themed Tours

Seasonally themed tours include a walk around the locations used in the filming of the 1984 classic A Christmas Carol in December and Ghost Tours.

Ghost Tours operate every Thursday from mid-October until the end of November, staring at 7pm and taking 90 minutes. These tours are very popular and pre-booking is essential.

Private Group tours

If you're coming to Shrewsbury with a group, Shrewsbury guides can organise private tours or talks, which can be customised to suit any itinerary. One guide is needed per 20 people.

Prices for private group Guided Tours:

  • General Historic Tour - £55 per guide.
  • Themed Tour of the Town - £60 per guide.
  • Language Supplement - £6 per guide.
