Tanners guided Christmas tour

About

In the bleak mid-winter nothing says Christmas like a glass of port and a mince pie in a draughty old building!

So, with this in mind Tanners have your back and as Christmas looms ever closer we invite you to wrap up warm, jingle bells and join us for our historic guided Christmas Tour. The old market town of Shrewsbury has a long and fascinating past, including (rather appropriately) being the location of A Christmas Carol with George C Scott. At the heart of one of its oldest streets, is our beloved Wyle Cop, and on this most ancient of streets is one of the oldest secular buildings in Shrewsbury, Tanners Wine Merchants - there is a wealth of history within these beamed walls! Our guests will be greeted with a glass of Tanners Cava and for the bold we are happy to hang your coat, then into the old Passageway before commencing a tour of the cellars with your Dickensian clad hosts. The evening will draw to close with a glass of Tanners famous LBV port and a mince pie and the cherry on the proverbial cake takes the form of a reading from the much-loved Christmas novella, A Christmas Carol. It is our way, after a testing year for us all, of bringing a little slice of Christmas to our customers.

We look forward to showing you around and sharing a little of Tanners history. Merry Christmas, one and all.

Please note: for Tanners Shrewsbury tours the large building is very old, so sensible footwear is always encouraged and in colder months we advise layers! We have stairs and uneven floors but where possible we will do all that we can for the ease of navigating guests around this tremendous building.
