Beyond the Mosaic

Join Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings throughout August for a series of free practical workshops.

Responding to the community mosaic mural curated by Sarah Evans, each workshop will focus on one or more of the artwork squares of the mosaic mural which is on display on the east terrace, and they will explore through music, arts, drama and storytelling, the significance of the stories behind the squares, and what they mean to local families and our local heritage.

The workshops are for sutiable for families with children aged 5 to 12, but older siblings can join in too!

Tickets are free but places are limited so please book in advance.

Workshops: 

Wednesday 20 August

• 10am-12pm: Family Drama - Flax and Barley’s adventure
• 1pm-3pm: Family Music - Singing and songwriting

Saturday 23 August

• 10am-12pm: Family Art - Bugs and Butterflies
• 1pm-3pm: Family Story Telling - Mini Beasts

Thursday 28 August 

• 10am-12pm: Family Art - Here Be Dragons
• 1pm-3pm: Family Story Telling – Hidden Lands

Saturday 30 August 

• 10am-12pm: Family Drama – The Fox and the Farmer
• 1pm-3pm: Family Music – Singing and songwriting

We have been comissions by Vibrant Shropshire to deliver this project as part of This is Shropshire Festival. The commission is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
