Claire… Still Turning Up: Without A Script

Claire… Still Turning Up: Without A Script is the extraordinary first one-woman show from Claire Ashton, appearing on stage at 75 with a life story of service, survival, danger, injustice and defiance. The evening will take the form of a live interview, with Claire joined by an interviewer still to be confirmed — someone prepared to ask the difficult questions, including their own and those from the audience.

A former soldier, police firearms officer, mountaineer, Great Britain shooter, cycle racer, tall-ship crew member and lifelong campaigner, Claire has survived lightning in the Alps, an avalanche on Ben Nevis, a fractured skull, hostile headlines, a nationally broadcast documentary, institutional exclusion, major surgery, and a near-fatal collision with a car travelling at 60 mph. She has also had the extraordinary support of her wife, Barbara, whom she has known for 50 years; together they have navigated marriage, a legally required divorce, civil partnership and remarriage — without missing a day together in 46 years of marriage and partnership.
