Nicaea symposium

About this event

Leading international scholar on the early Christian Church, Reverend Professor John Behr, of the University of Aberdeen, is the keynote speaker at this one-day public symposium marking the 1700th anniversary of a key event in the history of Christianity.

The symposium is a rare opportunity for anyone interested in faith and history to get a fascinating glimpse into the first 300 years of Christianity, from Roman persecution, martyrdom and secret worship to the historic First Council of Nicaea of 325 AD.

The symposium will examine the historical and theological context of the Council and its enduring significance.
