About this event
Part of the Soldiers of Shropshire Friends’ Talks 2025. These popular monthly talks are open to everyone and cover a range of topics.
February's talk will focus on the Soldiers of Shropshire Museum at 40 and will be delivered by Richard Gough.
Soldiers of Shropshire Museum has lived in Shrewsbury Castle for forty years! Join current Director Richard Gough as he looks back over its early days: The initial idea to merge the county regiments’ collections; the IRA bomb attack and subsequent resurgence; and how the museum is now looking to its future in a very different world to the one it started in.
Richard Gough has been the Director of Soldiers of Shropshire Museum since 2018, and has worked across the breadth of the culture sector for nearly 27 years. You’d think by now he’d know what the future holds – but this talk will show that it shouldn’t matter what’s around the corner – as long as the foundations are secure!
