About this event

We welcome you to join us for an evening of remembrance on the Transgender Day of Remembrance, which marks the final day of Transgender Awareness Week.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorated all the transgender people lost to violence since Rita Hester’s death, and began an important tradition that has become the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Please join us for an unforgettable evening, with a wonderful variety of performances by local artists and performers, including local groups FAE - The Formidable Alter-Egos and T&B - Tea & Biscuits.

All proceeds and funds raised on the night will be split between two charities:

Diversity Role Models: A charity that has LBGTQ+ volunteers speak to children in schools, actively seeking to embed inclusion and empathy in the next generation.

Mermaids: A charity that supports trans, non-binary and gender-diverse children, young people and their families.
