Films behind bars

Events Management students from New College Telford have teamed up with Immersive Events and the Campbell Group to host an outdoor cinema event at the Dana Prison, Shrewsbury on the 28th and 29th July.

The partnership involves Joel Campbell (Founder of The Campbell Group) and his team from Immersive Events, supporting students who are studying for a Foundation Degree in Events Management at New College Telford. The partnership will see several events come to life over the summer with the students being the event managers, supported by Joel and his team.

The first of these events involves an outdoor cinema event held in the grounds of the Dana Prison, Shrewsbury. Screening The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Thursday 28th July (fancy dress welcome) and The Shawshank Redemption on Friday 29th July.

As an extra twist to the screening, Immersive Events have brought to life some of your favourite characters for the films, who will be wandering through the audience and interacting with them.

Tickets can be purchased by calling (01743) 343100 or on the Immersive Events website. Tickets are £12 for allocated seating and £10 for floor tickets where you can bring your own cushions & blankets.

Tickets may be available on the night based on availability.

The doors will open for both events at 8pm and the showing of the films will begin at 9.15pm. A licensed bar and refreshments are available on the night.

Beth McGowan, Lecturer in Events Management at New College Telford said ‘The partnership between New College Telford and Immersive Events has been extremely useful for the students, they have the experience of arranging events in a real business environment with all the pressures and challenges that involves.’

Joel Campbell, Founder of The Campbell Group said ‘We are really pleased to be working with the Students at New College Telford. I know how hard it is to get real life experience in running events and with our setting at the Dana Prison I felt this would be a great opportunity for the students to get experience in their chosen field. The students have been working really hard and we are excited to see the results of these efforts over the coming months.’
