Shropshire and the surrounding area
The Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site is one not to miss. It's famous for being the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution but today it's a wooded valley filled with museums and attractions - from Enginuity, where you can test your reactions against the speed of a robot to Blists Hill Victorian Town, where the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of a Victorian Town are recreated.
Shropshire's historic towns include the medieval market town of Shrewsbury and Ludlow, which has a spectacular castle and world-renowned food festival. The historic town of Bridgnorth sits on a cliff overlooking the River Severn and is the place to go for train spotters. There's an inland railway connecting Low Town to High Town and steam train to take you through the Severn Gorge.
When it's time to rest your head Shropshire can offer the best of bases. Cosy cottages and camping. Historic hotels and self-catering in an old Post Office.
