About this event

Discover, Create, and Explore!

Join us for a series of engaging, hands-on history, science and art workshops designed especially for home educated children. Held in the inspiring setting of the museum, these sessions combine creativity, history, and fun learning experiences tailored to curious minds aged 5 and up.

Workshops start at 10.30am and finish at 12.00pm (please arrive 10 mins before the workshop begins to ensure a prompt start for the educator leading the session).

The workshops will take place in the Education Room on the second floor of the museum and there will be opportunities to explore the galleries during the workshop. Suitable for children age 5-11 years. £7.50 per child.

Please note: This is a drop- off session. Children will take part independently under the supervision of our trained staff. Parents and carers do not need to stay during the session but are invited to return promptly at the end to collect their child. If you have any questions about how drop-off workshops work or your child's needs, feel free to get in touch.

Anglo Saxons - Friday 6 Mar 2026

An opportunity to ‘discover’ the burial site of a rich Anglo-Saxon and to learn about archaeology. By investigating grave goods found with the body children will learn which materials survived in the ground and which have rotted away. Using the clues, they will recreate a scene from Anglo-Saxon times learning what Anglo-Saxon people wore, ate and what they did all day!
