Frequently asked questions

How long does the trail take to complete?

The trail could be completed in 30-40 minutes for an active family, or 1 - 1.5 hours for slower walkers.

Is it a set route, or can I do it in any order?

You can do it in any order you like! You haven't even got to do it all in one go - you're free to dip in and out.

Do I need to print the map, or can I follow it on my phone?

If you have signal, you can follow it easily on your phone, but we recommend collecting a print map from Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery so you can enjoy the activities on the back! It'll also help you out in 5G black spots.

You're also welcome to print out the Google Map if you find that easier to follow.

Is there a cost to take part?

No, it's completely free!

Is it accessible by wheelchair/pushchair?

The trail follows the town centre itself, so accessibility is the same as walking or wheeling around Shrewsbury generally. You won't need to go inside businesses to spot the characters, as they're all in windows.

That said, the town has a mix of paving types and pavement widths, so we'd recommend using your own judgement on the route and adapting as needed. If you would like information on the accessibility of a specific street, please contact us.

Is the activity sheet meant to be completed as you go, or done at home afterwards?

You can complete it any time, and feel free to keep it.

Is there parking nearby?

Yes, there is parking available in the town centre and on the fringes, including street parking and blue badge spaces. There are also three park & ride sites which may be more cost effective.
