Shrewsbury fashion show has the X factor

Model-dancers from top TV shows X Factor and Britain's Got Talent will be entertaining shoppers when a fast-paced fashion show hits the Shrewsbury Shopping Centres on Saturday 2nd May. It's part of a quickfire six-hour Pop-up Fashion event at the Darwin and Pride Hill centres which will feature four models and a host of retailers from stores in both centres.

Co-ordinating the show will be Mikey Lockwood, of Manchester-based events specialists Maynineteen who last year brought the successful Fashion Frames format to the centres.

He said: "The centres will be the venues for a fashion and dance extravaganza, with visitors able to watch the very latest Spring and Summer designs modelled as part of a slick and carefully choreographed show.

"There will be a series of performances to enjoy throughout the day with retailers showing off their very latest outfits and designs.

"Our team of dancer-models are there from 10.30am to 5pm and will be modelling the latest fashions from the various stores taking part in the event.

"Our models are dancers in some of the top shows on TV and you will probably have seen them in X Factor and Britain's Got Talent and seeing outfits actually being worn by people moving is always a better guide."

Among the shops taking part in the Fashion Frames event will be Warehouse and manager Helen Always is looking forward to the day. She said: "I was involved in this last year and we really enjoyed prepping for it and selecting the outfits.

"It's great to put together something really lovely and the event brings a great atmosphere to the shopping centres.

"This summer khaki is everywhere and Aztec and other strong prints and denim is very much of the moment so we will enjoy showing some of that off on the day."

Natalie Hewitt, new manager of Blue Inc, in the Darwin Centre, said: "I've been involved in a lot of fashion events at Merry Hill and they're great fun and give you a chance to get your stock out there.

"We're a men's store and we've got lot of check, short-sleeved shirts, lots of vest and polos and we're really looking forward to seeing them on the models."

Kevin Lockwood, Manager of the Darwin, Pride Hill and Riverside Shopping Centres, said: "The show which Mikey and his team have planned is a whole new concept and a first for the shopping centres and for Shrewsbury.

"Last year it was very successful and with another very professional and polished set of models and dancers it's a real coup for Shrewsbury and a great chance for our retailers to show off their latest styles.

"It will really put us on the fashion map and show that you don't need to travel to the major cities to find the latest designs and best outfits."
