Uptown Folk Season Resumes At The Hive

Following on from the success of the previous Uptown Folk season, The Hive, a registered charity and a Shrewsbury town centre arts & creative venue, is launching their new season by welcoming Megson to Shrewsbury on Friday 6th October.

Four times nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and double winners of the  Spiral Earth Awards, Megson draw heavily on their Teesside heritage to create a truly unique brand of folk music.

The husband & wife duo bring an infectious mix of heavenly vocals, lush harmonies and driving rhythmic guitars. Comprising Debs Hanna (Vocals, Whistle, Piano Accordion) and Stu Hanna (Guitar, Mandola, Banjo)

Megson have gained fame on the British folk scene, not only for their arresting & intelligent songwriting, but for their exquisite musicianship and northern humour. As fRoots Magazine puts it ‘if you don’t like the music here then you have a problem’

Hot on the heels of Megson, further Uptown Folk gigs include Bella Hardy – Sat 28th Oct, Cardboard Fox – 17th Nov and Calan – 9th Dec.  Full details on Uptown Folk and everything else that’s on at The Hive can be found on their website www.hiveonline.org.uk, by phone on 10743 234970, or popping into the venue on Belmont, Shrewsbury, SY1 1TE.
