Shrewsbury High School

A Shrewbury Original since

Shrewsbury High is widely regarded as one of the UK's leading independent schools, offering academic excellence, all-round opportunity, and pastoral care. Shrewsbury High was recently ranked in first place in Shropshire in the Independent School Council's league table for GCSE points scored. In addition, it was once again prestigiously placed in the Times newspaper's top 100 schools at A-level.

Shrewsbury High aims to ensure that the extra-curricular provision at Prep, Senior and Sixth Form level is of the very highest of standards, from Music and the Performing Arts to Sport and beyond. Girls are taught from ages 3-18 years and boys from ages 3-13 with the aim to nurture each student academically and personally in a happy and supportive environment.

A Shrewsbury Original

Shrewsbury High School is one of the most successful and highly regarded independent schools in the country, but its all-round excellence is what the school is really proud of.

Founded in 1885 by the Girls’ Day School Trust, the school’s Senior School has been positioned prominently on Town Walls in Shrewsbury, the County town of Shropshire, for over 100 years and is currently enjoying further high levels of investment.

With Shrewsbury High Prep School situated just a few minutes’ walk away on Roman Road, all pupils, from 3 -18 benefit from the outstanding facilities and specialist staff on hand.

With small class sizes, excellent facilities and the highest standards of pastoral care, Shrewsbury High School is a friendly and stimulating environment where all pupils have the opportunity to reach their full potential. It was the first school in the County to win an Independent School Award in 2014 for its sporting outreach work and has been nominated again this year in the same awards for its innovative Lego Robotics programme. In 2015 the School was delighted to win the Sports Award at the Education Business Awards.
