What's on in Shrewsbury this May?
Loopfest 2024 lands with a bang
Loopfest is back! Shrewsbury's mostly-free music festival will fill the town centre with music from some of the most exciting talent in alternative music this weekend (May 3rd-5th).
This year's Castle Stage features critically-acclaimed post-punk favourites The Futureheads, supported by legendary beatboxer Beardyman, Dutty Moonshine Big Band, and Nubiyan Twist. That's just one of more than 20 venues delivering live music all bank holiday weekend.
We heard from festival volunteer about the artists we mustn't miss.
Searching for even more to do this bank holiday?
We told you this month was packed with things to keep you bus. If lots (and lots) of free live music isn't your thing, there's more to choose from.

Discover Shrewsbury's Secrets with Guided Walking Tours
From Wednesday 1st May, Sabrina Tours, in association with the Shrewsbury Town Guide Association, will be running guided walking tours of Shrewsbury every day.
Discover Shrewsbury’s medieval town with the help of knowledgeable guides. Meeting at 2:15pm under the Old Market Hall, dive straight in and explore the history and buildings of Shrewsbury during a 90-minute walk around this historic town. Even Shrews locals are bound to see the town anew!
Plan Your May Visit
With two bank holidays and the school half-term falling in one month, May is the perfect month to make some time for yourself or your family and pay a visit to our bustling town. It doesn't matter if you're coming for the first time or popping in for your weekly catchup with friends, Shrewsbury's May calendar has something for everyone.
Is your speed a slow stroll around beautiful flowering gardens, dining al fresco on the riverside, exploring crooked Tudor streets, or rocking your socks off to the best modern sounds?
