Where to experience live music in Shrewsbury
Pubs, Clubs and Bars
Perhaps Shrewsbury’s premier live music venue, Albert’s Shed has a weekly calendar bursting with acts and was spotlighted in 2024 by The Independent as one of Britain's best indie music venues.
On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays you’ll be blown away by local acts, DJs, and names from further afield. On Tuesday, it's your turn to take the stage for Albert's popular open mic night - and even though Albert Hates Karaoke, you can still sing your guts out to your favourite tunes every Thursday.
LOOP is a newcomer to the town's live music scene - a two-stage community music venue and arts space built to support emerging talent, founded by the incredible team behind LOOPFEST. Perfectly placed for gigs without the hassle with easy rail links across the Marches, Mid Wales, Telford, Wolverhampton, Chester and beyond, so you can catch the last train home.
Popular town centre bar Oil brings the funk to Shrewsbury with a mixed line-up of DJs, rock, soul and funk in the spotlight every month. You can show off your stuff here, too, at one of their basement jam sessions.
Serving food, real ale and lots of live acts, The Bull Inn is popular amongst Shrewsbury residents and visitors. Whether you prefer funk, fusion, rockabilly or rock n roll, you’ll find all genres on the schedule. And make sure to check out their Wednesday night open mic night – with a free drink for all performers!
Ashley’s is a hub for entertainment, with live acts every week including a popular Northern Soul night.
Just across town, the Old Post Office hosts live music in its historic pub setting, as well as popular karaoke nights throughout the year.
The Yorkshire House is known as a hub for hard rock, while the Salopian Bar hosts regular indie gigs.
Over the Welsh Bridge, The Wheatsheaf Frankwell is well known for its live music mini-festivals such as this spring's Reggae Resurrection.
