Inspector Banks author to visit Shrewsbury

Renowned author Peter Robsinson, creator of the Inspector Banks crime series that inspired the popular TV drama DCI Banks, will be visiting Shrewsbury on Friday 22nd July to sign copies of his latest book.

Mr Robinson will be at Pengwern Books, in Fish Street, as part of an official UK-wide tour to accompany the publication of his 23rd Inspector Banks novel ‘When the Music’s Over’.

The number one best-selling author will be signing copies from 12.30pm. While Robinson has published a number of other novels, short stories and poems, it is the Inspector Banks detective series that he is best known.

Several of the series’ novels, set in a fictional town in the Yorkshire Dales, were adapted for television by ITV under the title ‘DCI Banks’ with actor Stephen Tompkinson in the lead role.

The TV series so far has had four season runs, from 2011 to 2015, and the fifth TV series is currently in production. The latest Inspector Banks book is scheduled for publication by Hodder and Stoughton on Thursday 14th July.

“It’s wonderful to have the chance to host such a renowned author as Peter Robinson at Pengwern Books and we’re very much looking forward to it,” said bookseller Susan Caroline.

“I’m a huge fan of UK-based crime writing and Peter's books are crime-writing at its very best. This will be a chance for Shropshire fans of the Inspector Banks novels and the TV series to meet the author and take home signed copies of the latest book.”
