Theatre Severn

Frankwell Quay

A Shrewbury Original since

If entering on the street side, look out for the old chapel building which is embedded between the Stage Door and public entrance. It now houses the stalls level Chapel Bar which doubles as exhibition space. The front of the theatre is spacious and bright as it wraps around the main auditorium, with double and triple-height glazing looking out over the street and river, enjoy dinner or a drink at the Foundry on the first floor.

The main house seats 638 across three levels. The generous curve of the two balconies gives the auditorium a warm, intimate feel for its size when compared to other theatres. The second performance space is the 250-seat Walker Theatre. In contrast to the main theatre, this is a square room with a single steep rake of seating with control desk at the top. The stage is made very flexible with masking panels at the sides and above to create the proscenium arch plus further drapes to alter the proportions of the performance space. With a dance studio and further hospitality space and a very picturesque setting, this is among the country's successful and popular theatres throughout the day, week and year, along with being a favourite location in Shrewsbury.

A Shrewsbury Original

Rising high above the River Severn with doulbe and triple glazing for a full view of the town, Theatre Severn is the perfect spot for a G&T. Theatre Severn is, according to comedian Jason Manford, "easily one of the top 5 theatres in the country"

With theatre space for over 600 people, Theatre Severn is the top entertainment destination in Shropshire, bringing in top music, theatre and comedy performers from around the world.
