The Sculpture Trail 2025

This summer’s Sculpture Trail features acclaimed artists including Andrew Logan MBE, Halima Cassell MBE, Jacob Chandler, and Laura Ford, President of the Royal Society of Sculptors.

Andrew Logan’s striking Black Rose sculpture Birdbath is now on display in The Dingle. Originally created in the 1970s for a Kensington roof garden, the mirrored piece usually resides in his Museum of Sculpture in Berriew, Wales. Logan says he's thrilled to show it in nature once more, “as it is designed to be seen.”

Halima Cassell MBE presents her monumental sculpture Memento Mori outside Shrewsbury Castle, alongside Virtues of Unity in the Museum and Art Gallery—an evolving installation of hand-carved vessels made from clays around the world, each symbolising a human virtue. Now featuring 55 pieces, it reflects a growing global dialogue. Cassell, based near Craven Arms, is also shortlisted to design a national memorial to Queen Elizabeth II.

Jacob Chandler’s minimalist sculpture Exploration of Flat Land appears in The Dingle. His gold-plated bronze piece, created with Byrga Geniht and inspired by Roman Emperor Constantine, also features in the museum exhibition. A Shrewsbury native, Chandler has exhibited globally and was commissioned to create One Giant Leap for Humankind for Birmingham New Street Station.

Laura Ford’s Nature Girls—three child-sized bronzes—will be on show in the courtyard at the museum café. Known for blending charm with the unsettling, her work is held in major collections including Tate and the V&A. Inside the museum, her sculpture Bedtime Boy can also be seen in the Tudor Gallery.

The inclusion of Cassell and Chandler’s work was made possible by Shrewsbury’s Soden Collection, a key partner in supporting and showcasing contemporary sculpture. The Sculpture Trail is a celebration not just of artistic talent, but of the partnerships that bring world-class work to public spaces.
