Quality and local produce is at the heart of their food and drink offer and all stop. Café Bar's cakes are homemade by on-site baker Richy Wedge. Patisserie Valerie

With perfect rows of cakes lining the window and looking out onto the Square, Patisserie Valerie is hard to walk by without picking up a Tarte aux Fraises or slice of Gateaux. For a heavenly start to your morning, stop by for a coffee and a croissant. If you're planning a celebration, a cake can also be ordered to impress your guests.

The Libertine

Easy to spot with their landmark pink frontage, the Libertine is a Shrewsbury favourite. With a rotating selection of home-made treats, milk shakes served in milk bottles and vagabond décor, a shopping pit-stop at the Libertine feels luxuriously delightful. If you like your tea more Long Island than Darjeeling, happy hour is 3pm until 7pm.

Camellia's Tea Rooms

Whisk yourself away to Camellia's Tea Room, nestled in St Alkmund's Place, overlooking the historic Bear Steps and St Alkmund's Church. Home-baked scones with clotted cream are served on traditional three tiered stands alongside finer sandwiches and cakes. And who says afternoon tea can't be internationally inspired, step away from the ordinary and sample the Japanese Suki teas.
