Shop gees up for Christmas with new range

A talented Shropshire illustrator with a love of horses has combined her passions to create a new range of cards and gifts.

Isobel Bushell has launched a selection of greetings cards and pictures all with an equine theme.

The Christmas cards, which are now available at Write Here in Shrewsbury’s High Street, have been created with her personal experiences in mind.

“We have always kept ponies and I know they become part of the family over the years, so I have created illustrations which depict people’s emotional reaction to horses and ponies,” said Isobel, who runs Aardvark Illustration and Design near Much Wenlock.

“I realise that we are not the only ones who spoil their horses and ponies – especially at Christmas.

“My daughter once knitted a scarf for her pony and we have plaited their manes with festive ribbons! so the cards show those sort of situations and they are proving really popular as people relate to them,” she explained.

John Hall, who runs gift shop Write Here, said that the cards were proving popular with customers.

“Shropshire is such a horsey county and my own daughters were keen riders so I knew Isobel’s creations would strike a chord with like-minded people.

“The Christmas designs are selling well and we are going to stock her general horsey cards next year too,” he said.

Her illustrations show a range of equine images, including shires, show jumping, dressage, hacking out scenes and National Hunt racing.
