Shrewsbury artists open their studios

Two Shrewsbury artists will be opening their studios to visitors next week.

Linda Edwards and Beverley Fry, who are both renowned for their distinctive and colourful work, will be hosting the events on 3rd December.

Linda, who has worked for over 20 years as an illustrator, artist and designer, will be showcasing new paintings in oil and watercolour and mixed media at her studio in Quarry Place.

Beverley Fry paints in oils, watercolour and pen and wash and has been exhibiting in galleries around the UK, Dublin, Paris and the USA since 1984.

At her studio at 56 Berwick Road visitors will be given a unique chance to see her newest work in progress and a variety of vibrant still life, interiors, landscape, bird and flower paintings. Beverley loves to paint direct from life, especially portraits and the nude figure. Cards and prints will also be available to buy.

Linda Edwards, whose imaginative images are often inspired by poetry, birds, gardens and folk art, explained that the events would give people an interesting insight into the life of an artist.

She said: “The open studios will offer an inspiring glimpse into life as a professional artist and Beverley and I are very much looking forward to welcoming visitors during the day. I am especially excited at the moment by my bird paintings and experimenting with gold leaf in different ways.

Her ’Sunny Side Art’ prints, gifts and cards, which feature illustrations of Shrewsbury’s streets and Shropshire landmarks, will be on sale, together with lasercuts and, as always, a few surprises! A donation from sales will go to Severn Hospice.

Both studios will be open from 10am until 5pm on Saturday 3rd December.
