As the festive arrives with the big Christmas Lights Switch On (19th November), Shrewsbury is ready to welcome shoppers after dark for the merriest of shopping excursions.

From the glow of Christmas lights to the bustle of twinkling shop windows, our town comes alive in the evening - and a wide selection of local businesses are staying open late to celebrate with you.

Whether you're getting your Christmas shopping done or just soaking in the atmosphere, here’s your guide to late-night shopping in Shrewsbury this December.

The Darwin Centre

The Darwin Centre will extend its hours on these dates:

19 November (Light Switch-On): open until 8pm
26 November, 3 December & 10 December: open until 7pm
17 December (Carols in the Square): open until 7pm

It’s the perfect place to pick up gifts from brilliant brands in a convenient location, with ample parking and three accessible floors to explore. It's dog friendly, too!

Market Hall

Our beloved and multi-award-winning Market Hall is joining in the festive fun, too. On 19 November, during the Christmas Lights Switch-On, it will stay open until 8pm for a gorgeous Winter Warmer.

Plus, there are more late-night shopping evenings planned on Saturday 6 December and Wednesday 17 December - a great chance to browse the market’s mix of food, gifts, fashion and local artisan goods - all with a mulled wine to keep you warm!

Drawn Collective Night Market at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery

For one night only, Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery will transform into a festive makers’ hub as the Drawn Collective Night Market returns on Thursday 5 December, from 4pm–8pm.

Expect a beautifully curated selection of artists, illustrators, designers, and craftspeople - the perfect chance to find one-of-a-kind gifts, prints, accessories, fashion, ceramics, jewellery and more, all made with care by local creatives.

In the museum’s stunning backdrop, under warm lighting and with plenty of festive atmosphere, it’s sure to be one of the jolliest shopping events of the season. There'll be amazing food on hand too!

Ideal for thoughtful gifting or simply soaking up Shrewsbury’s creative spirit.

The Night Bus

Here’s some extra festive cheer for you (and your safe trip home):

Shrewsbury’s new Night Bus trial launches on the 24th of November, offering an affordable, convenient, and safe late-night route home for workers, shoppers, and anyone enjoying the town’s evening sparkle.

Runs Monday to Saturday until midnight on routes N11, N25, and N27, serving all stops along the way
Free travel for the first week!
Perfect for hospitality staff, people finishing work late, or anyone who wants to linger in town with peace of mind
£2 a ticket, concessions travel free, and 5 people can bag a group ticket for £5!
